The field of obstetrics focuses on pregnancy and childbirth, while gynecology examines the reproductive system of women. In contrast to obstetric Surgery, which includes procedures performed during pregnancy, delivery, or the postpartum phase, gynecologic Surgery deals with surgical procedures for abnormalities. To be carried out safely and effectively, obstetrics and gynecologic Surgery both call for specialized training and expertise. Best practices and the most recent developments will be covered in this session.
